Offering 58 major areas of study at the associate, bachelor, masters, and doctoral levels, Trevecca enrolls almost 2,500 students at its Nashville campus. It is one of eight U.S. colleges associated with the Church of the Nazarene.
2. Lipscomb University - Tuition: $20,660 per year. Room/Board: $8,360 per year. LU offers over 130 areas of study leading to 66 majors for an undergraduate degree. They also offer graduate degrees. With an enrollment over 3,000, LU offers more than 70 student organizations for students to get involved in, as well as weekly chapel and worship services.
3. Cumberland University – Tuition: $16,530 per year. Room/Board: $5,950 per year. 30 miles east of Nashville, Cumberland University has approximately 1,300 students enrolled in over 30 different majors. As a private, liberal arts college, CU offers undergraduate programs in the sciences and social sciences, business administration and economics, education, physical education and special education, music and fine arts, and nursing.
4. Watkins College of Art and Design – Tuition: $17,940 per year. Room: $6,000 per year. Watkins offers four-year Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Film, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Interior Design and Photography; a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art and a Professional Certificate in Film. Watkins has an enrollment of only 400 students with a student to teacher ratio of eight to one.
5. Vanderbilt University – Tuition: $38,952 per year. Room/Board: $13,068 per year. Founded in 1873, Vanderbilt University today offers undergraduate programs in the liberal arts and sciences, engineering, music, education and human development. Undergraduate enrollment is over 6,700 with another 5,700 graduate and professional students.
6. Belmont University – Tuition: $22,530 per year. Room/Board: $8,430 per year. BU was named one of the top two “Schools to Watch” in the nation by the U.S. News and World Report. With over 5,400 students, Belmont offers more than 75 programs of study.
7. Tennessee State University – Tuition: in-state $241 per credit hour, out-of-state $738 per credit hour. Room/Board: $5,610 per year. Offering 45 bachelors degrees, TSU has been listed for the past thirteen years in the U.S. News & World Report “Guide to America’s Best Colleges.” TSU enrolls over 8,000 students.
8. Fisk University – Tuition: $16,848 per year. Room/Board: $8,586 per year. For the past ten years, Money Magazine has included Fisk on its “100 Best College Buys” list. Founded in 1866, the school continues their famous tradition of having Jubilee Singers.
9. Middle Tennessee State University – Tuition: in-state $250 per semester hour, out-of-state $747 per semester hour. Room/Board: $6,972 per year. MTSU is the first choice of undergraduates in the state of Tennessee and has one of the highest entrance requirements of any public university in the state. Located less than an hour away from Nashville, MTSU is only one mile away from the geographic center of Tennessee. MTSU enrolls over 25,000 students.
10. Aquinas College – Tuition: $17,730 per year. Originally founded as a school for nuns, this Dominican college still has a nun as president. Their most notable undergraduate degrees are in nursing and business. With an enrollment of 850 students, Aquinas does not offer any sporting programs to its students.
