Choosing the Right Nashville Neighborhood for Your New Home

One of the most important decisions you have to make before buying a house comes from thinking about which neighborhood you want to live in. Neighborhoods can differ drastically, some upscale and trendy and others much more down-to-earth and functional. Before you take out a low interest mortgage think about which Nashville neighborhood is right for you. Nashville Banking Rates brings you a listing and description of each Nashville neighborhood.

  • 8th Avenue South: Located fairly close to downtown Nashville, 8th Avenue is full of things to do. With restaurants, the only comedy club, antique stores, and live music venues, you will never lack for a late night activity here.
  • 12 South: Nashville’s newest up-and-coming neighborhood also has a lot of things to do. From boutique shopping to trendy restaurants, 12 South provides a place where you can live and socialize at the same time.
  • East Nashville: This neighborhood provides a bit of a relief from the hectic lifestyle of downtown Nashville. With historic buildings and more of a relaxed vibe, East Nashville is perfect as a place to escape without leaving the city.
  • Elliston Place: Right next to Vanderbilt University campus, Elliston Place provides a much younger entertainment scene. Aimed at college students and young adults, Elliston Place provides nightclubs, bars, and bookstores.
  • Germantown: Another historic neighborhood, Germantown was Nashville’s first suburb. Named because of the German immigrants that lived there, the district has some fantastic food and architecture.
  • Green Hills: This area has some of Nashville’s most desirable homes. Green Hills’ casual and comfortable environment hosts some of Nashville’s best shopping with boutiques and malls, as well as some pretty good jazz music.
  • Hillsboro: Located near Belmont and Belmont Universities, Hillsboro provides a collage of shops, boutiques, and restaurants perfect for the tourist section of Nashville. A four block village inside Hillsboro has recently become revitalized with young professionals looking to live in play in Nashville.
  • Midtown: This is one of the best places to get upscale global food and admire the artwork.
  • Sylvan Park: A quaint and quiet area of Nashville, Sylvan Park features architecture spanning the years, with 1920s clapboard homes and 1930s bungalows right next to each other. It has home-style food restaurants and features fun things like farmers’ markets.
